The Zimbabwe Diaspora Directorate was established by the Government of Zimbabwe with the aim of meeting the needs of the growing number of Zimbabweans and the Zimbabwean diaspora residing abroad interested in Zimbabwe’s development and well-being. The Zimbabwe Directorate Directorate conducts research on policies, initiatives, and legislation geared towards augmenting the engagement of the Diaspora in national development processes. Moreover, the Zimbabwe Diaspora Directorate liaises with missions abroad in order to encourage the participation of the Zimbabwean Diaspora in investment, tourism and trade, as well as technology and skills transfer.
- The Directorate acts as a focal entry point for the Diaspora to liaise with Government. It is a one stop shop for all Diaspora engagements with Government.
- To maximise the potential of the Diaspora in contributing to Zimbabwe’s development process through remittances, philanthropic work, skills transfer and investment.
- Mainstream the Diaspora into national development agenda.
- Coordinate line Ministries and all stakeholders’ activities that enhance protection of Diaspora rights and remove domestic bottlenecks confronting them.
